The mission of Young Detroit Thinkers is to provide the Metro Detroit youth with quality programs and experiences which will enable them to excel academically in a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment.
Young Detroit Thinkers will create future young leaders by teaching and engaging them in the game of chess.

The Detroit City Chess Club won the 2020 Regional Queen City Chess Classic Tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio
For the past 16 years, children in the city have come to this space to be introduced to this age-old game. But it’s much more than just a game.
By entering the premise and participating in events held by Detroit City Chess Club and Young Detroit Thinkers (“CLUB”) you hereby irrevocably grant to CLUB and its successors, licensees, and assigns the rights, consents, and permission to interview and photograph and/ or record and/ or videotape such interview (“Recordings”) and to use and allow others to use said Recordings or any part thereof and/ or your name. voice, likeness, and biography in connection with any advertising or promotion relating to CLUB.
In the event of a dispute, you hereby waive any right to injunctive or other equitable relief and you agree not to interfere in any way with the exercise of CLUB’s rights hereunder. You acknowledge that in granting of the foregoing consent and rights, you have not been induced to do so by or in reliance on any promises, representations, or assurances whatsoever made by CLUB other than expressed herein.
